There are few honors that come in this business that are truly lasting. Magazine articles come and go and notoriety fades. All such things eventually fade from peoples memory. They are all temporary.
I was talking to one of my best friends today. It wasn’t long ago that I did a firearm safety class for his group of Boy Scouts. The class went fairly well and by the end they could collectively remember all 4 of the safety rules. Not bad for one evening. Well, Cory had an update for me. The group actually enjoyed the class and all but one passed off the shotgun merit badge that weekend. While that’s great it get’s even better. The class and their day at the range is now their favorite activity and they still talk about it. They have even been spotted quoting the safety rules to other adults at church.
That is the true honor in this industry. Passing on a love of firearms and the safe use of them to kids that would never have had the chance otherwise. Even if nothing else came of Crusader there is this one honor that will last. Hopefully they have set themselves firmly enough on that foundation that they will pass this down to their children and grandchildren. So from the bottom of my heart, thank you Cory. It’s truly an honor to have been a part of this.
